Free State Health spokesperson Mondli Mvambi said there might be information gaps in terms of accessing the latest National Health Insurance plan developments.
Mvambi statement comes after provincial Cosatu secretary Monyatso oa Mahlatsi expressed that the NHI pilot project was moving at a snail’s pace. Mvambi said to Courant that the NHI being a national process they have allocated Thabo Mofutsanyana District Municipality as an area where NHI will be firstly implemented.
He explained that the department needed to improve levels of communicating the NHI process and adds that they are happy with the current process.
“The challenge, which was identified by government, could be the pace at which we are moving to finalise the employment of nurses. The department is doing all it can to make sure that nursing category in particular is prioritised. We also need to improve our level of communication in which we will be able to fill vacancies,” he added.
Mvambi said vacancies within the department are critical and must be filled. He said the matter might contribute the perception that NHI isn’t moving at an expected pace.
