Fuel prices set to go up

Unaudited fuel data from the Central Energy Fund (CEF) indicates that all grades of fuel are set to rise in this month.

According to the report, the price of 93 ULP is projected to increase by 14 cents per litre, while 95 ULP is expected to rise by 25 cents per litre. Diesel prices are anticipated to climb by approximately 22 cents per litre, and illuminating paraffin is forecasted to be 21 cents per litre more expensive in November compared to its current price.

“The movement in international product prices increased sharply mid-month but slowed towards the end of the month, cushioning what would otherwise be an even wider under-recovery. The average Rand to US Dollar exchange is also adding an impactful but smaller margin to the expected increases,” stated the AA.

Based on these figures, the price of 95 ULP inland will rise from the current R21.05 per litre to R21.30 per litre, while the cost of 93 ULP will increase from R20.73 per litre to R20.87 per litre. Despite these increases, both prices remain lower than the beginning of 2024.

“We again urge consumers to monitor their fuel usage carefully and to budget according to the new fuel prices which come into effect next Wednesday 6 November. Ensuring vehicles are well maintained and in good mechanical condition, carefully planning routes, and avoiding heavy traffic, if possible, are some ways in which motorists can ensure better fuel consumption,” the AA concluded.
