ANC Chief Whip in the provincial legislature, Neels van Rooyen, said most of the funds will be directed towards Health and Education, keeping in line with the governing party’s priorities.
Rockman is also expected to address measures meant to rescue the struggling Free State Health Department which remains under Treasury’s care.
Van Rooyen says the other key areas of focus will be job creation, agriculture, rural development and infrastructure.
He adds it is going to be a tough budget, but the priorities are there. He says there is some optimism at present and Rockman will take that into consideration.
Van Rooyen says the economy is improving, business confidence and commodity prices are also improving. They are therefore looking forward to tomorrow’s budget speech.
The budget speech will take place today in Xhariep.
