The Free State Department of Police, Roads and Transport say they are expecting traffic flow to increase on Friday afternoon.
According to the department’s spokesperson Hillary Mophethe, traffic flow is currently normal on all provincial roads. She said all traffic officials are on the lookout on various roads for assistance and to ensure that road users are following the rules of the road.
“Last week Friday and Saturday when the school closed there was a heavy flow in all the entries into the province. Starting from the N1 road from Gauteng joining the N1 road to Colesberg, towards the Eastern Cape, N3 and N5 there was a heavy traffic flow. We did not have fatalities or accidents on provincial roads. We only had about thirteen accidents around smaller roads and twenty-eight fatalities,” said Mophethe.
