FS police celebrate Communication Head’s career

Police in the Free State have bid farewell to a respected and seasoned communicator, Brigadier Motantsi Makhele. The Provincial Head of Corporate Communication retired after 36 years of loyal service to the province.

Free State police spokesperson, Captain Loraine Earle, said Makhele dedicated his life to serving the province with pride and distinction. “Over the years, he became a pillar of strength within the organisation, guiding Provincial Commissioners through both challenging and celebratory times with his steady hand, discipline, and strong leadership,” she said.

The spokesperson added that Makhele became the voice of the Free State police, “ensuring that communities were always informed, reassured, and kept close to the work of the SAPS.”

Makhele is highly regarded by his colleagues, the media, and Free State communities.

The Provincial Commissioner extended heartfelt gratitude to Brigadier Makhele for his dedication and contribution over his almost 40-year career. “His departure leaves a void, but his legacy of commitment, discipline, and compassion will remain,” added Earle.

“We wish Brigadier Makhele all the best in his new journey and trust that he will continue to inspire those around him as he has done throughout his remarkable career,” she concluded.
