Over 50 members of the Free State Department of Health took to the streets of Heidedal on Friday morning to raise awareness on premature birth.
The health workers, doctors, specialists and senior management members embarked on a health walk from Lemo Mall in Heidedal to Pelonomi Hospital to commemorate World International Premature/Preterm Babies Day.
Members of the Free State Department of Health were in high spirits as they took a long walk for health and awareness in Preterm Births.
The health walk kicked off at Lemo Mall in Heidedal and ended at Pelonomi Hospital, where an awareness campaign was held. Traffic and police officials were also present to ensure law enforcement.
They could be heard walking from Lemo Mall singing songs that when loosely translated imply that they are on a mission to spread the word about premature births and preventing infection, which is what normally causes death in these births.
