Free State Agriculture agrees and supports government’s views that the land reform process should be conducted democratically and dividing land should be fare.
This was the message from the president of Free State Agriculture, Dan Kriek, at the organization’s annual congress in Bloemfontein this morning. Kriek told role players in the industry that farmers already dedicated themselves to land reform more than eight years ago when a plan based on sound economic and constitutional principles was drawn up.
Kriek however said farmers will not compromise about economic realities and South Africa’s Constitution and what it states about land reform.
He also appealed to government that a relationship based on trust is now in order. Kriek told the Free State MEC of Agriculture, Mamiki Qabathe, who also attended the congress, that organized agriculture in the province needs leadership from government and aims towards a solid relationship with them.
The congress continues until tomorrow.
