The Free State Department of Human Settlements has distanced itself from a social media post earlier this week, flagging it as a scam.
According to the flagged post, the “Department of Human Settlements in Bloemfontein Phase 2” is allegedly looking for applicants who applied for RDP houses from 1996-2021, to check on the progress of their application. Applicants who have been approved can collect their approval letters and keys to their RDP houses.
The post further provides a number for applicants to contact and provide their personal details.
“This social media post is not done by the Free State Department of Human Settlements… do not fall prey to such scams,” says the department on its official Facebook page.
