A Dam Level Report published by the Department of Water and Sanitation on Monday, 29 May 2017 reveals that water levels in Free State have decreased from 84.5 to 84.4%. During the same period last year, the levels stood at 54.4%.
Dam levels in the province have shown a decline due to the lack of rainfall in the winter season.
Level 3 water restrictions are still being implemented in Mangaung and all residents are requested to adhere to them and use water sparingly. The community is also requested to look out for burst pipes as they are prominent during the winter season.
Leaks in the household, from the water meter to the house should be fixed by residents as soon as they occur. Leaks that occur outside the household, before the meter and on main lines, should be reported to the local municipality or DWS Hotline on 0800 200 200 immediately.
DWS urges the community to continue using water sparingly and working together with government to make sure that this precious resource does not go to waste.
