Police spokesperson, Thabo Covane, confirms the 38-year-old performer handed himself over to the police on Tuesday, July 30, a day after Wansbury was shot in the stomach and thigh on the corner of Maluti Avenue and Kenilworth Road in Groenvlei. Hiliza is believed to have made a brief appearance in the courthouse before being granted bail.
The spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) in the province, Phaladi Shuping, says the case has been postponed to August 30 for further investigations.
Web: The 52-year-old Wansbury allegedly told police he was ambushed by a man known to him, who was accompanied by his bodyguard, on Monday night. Four shots were fired in the direction of the prominent business owner’s vehicle with two hitting him.
The owner of the Sandstone Sleeper Estate outside Bloemfontein and Tents for Africa managed to alert police and drive himself to Mediclinic despite being shot. He was later rushed into theatre and surgery was performed. Covane confirms the bodyguard in question has not been arrested.
It is believed the incident was a result of a business deal turned sour. This is yet to be confirmed.
