Bringing a different taste that appeals to the heart and armed with an amazing voice and charisma to match, 35-year-old singer and songwriter, Lerato Auctavia Letlojane, better known as Auctavia, is known for creating music of hope.

Born in the third largest town in the Free State, Kroonstad, Auctavia has made the City of Roses her home since 2004. With her music she not only aspires to touch the world but also to spread the message of hope to a “seemingly” hopeless society and is said to leave you dazzled and yearning for more.

Although the talent for singing runs in her family, she has always drawn her inspiration from her father. “I just loved watching him perform, how he held himself on stage. His confidence would just overwhelm me. He would always say to me, ‘Baby girl, when you sing somebody’s song, sing it like them or better than them, learn to respect other people’s craft and don’t mess it up’,” Auctavia says.

Singing from a tender age, Auctavia took the lead at her church choir at the age of five, singing “Peace in our land”. She also won competitions for her school and church bands.
According to her, if there is one thing in the industry that she would like to change, it is to create better platforms for independent artists, especially on local radio stations and at local music events. “I believe that all music needs to be heard over and over again in order to be loved and appreciated. The more people hear our music on the radio, the more they will relate to us.”

“We are now living in a very hopeless society where people have just given up, so I write music which inspires hope, ignites love and brings joy,” are her words.
She has also recently casted on a Dream Girls’ Theatrical Project which is run by the University of the Free State in partnership with Pacofs, where she played the leading role of “Effie”. She has also shared a stage with the likes of Nonkosi, Thandiwa Mazwai, Kelly Khumalo, Lady Zamar and is definitely one of Bloemfontein’s finest.
