Allegations of an 11-year old boy who was injured by rubber bullets used by police when violence erupted in Monyakeng, Wesselsbron, at the weekend are being investigated.
Free State police spokesperson, Sam Makhele, says the alleged injured boy or his parents cannot be located. Makhele appeals to anyone with information to come forward.
He says nine community members and 25 people were arrested on Saturday and Sunday in connection with public violence after a number of tuck shops were looted.
This comes after local police members raided taverns in the area to check for compliance and search for illegal substances and weapons.
Members entered one of the taverns in Matamong Section and conducted a search when some of the customers refused to be searched.
They became violent and threw beer bottles and stones at police officers. Police vehicles were damaged. He says backup was summoned. The rioters managed to leave the tavern and started to loot nearby tuck shops.
He says Public Order Police Members are still monitoring the situation. Police appeal to the community to remain calm. The 34 suspects are expected to appear in the Wesselsbron Magistrate Court today.
