Great news for the people of Botshabelo is that the Free State Department of Education will build and renovate the Qhelo School of Skills in D-section and build Kgotso Taole High School in V-section Botshabelo in this financial year.
Mokati Ntho, Circuit Manager in the Motheo region, told Voice that Botshabelo has three types of schools teaching all the subjects – they are the technical schools like Lenyora La Thuto in H-section, and commercial schools, like Mpatleng High School in T-section.
He added that the department will soon be launching the Qhelo School of Skills in D-section for children classified as ‘slow learners’.
“The school is under renovation at the moment and we are waiting for text books. The school will provide learners with the development of skills such as welding, hair dressing, carpentry, brick laying, to name but a few. As human beings, we are different. Some are academically excellent and some are technically excellent. This school will provide skills development so that these young people will have something to do and provide for their families.
“We will also be building a new high school called Kgotso Taole here in V-section so that leaners from Ward 36 and Ward 37 will have an alternative school and there will be no overcrowding at Lefikeng Secondary School,” Ntho said.
The department has put up temporary structures at Katamelo Primary School so that during the second term of this school year, learners from the primary school in W-, U- and S-section will use these premises until the completion of the other high school.
