Police in Kroonstad have arrested a 47-year-old woman for possession of suspected stolen livestock.
According to Free State police spokesperson Josephine Rani, officers acted on information received on Sunday (22 March) about sheep carcasses allegedly hidden at a residence in the area.
“Upon arrival at the identified premises, members discovered two sheep carcasses that had been cut in half and stored in a refrigerator. The suspect was questioned about the origin of the carcasses but failed to provide a satisfactory explanation,” Rani said.
The woman was subsequently arrested, and the carcasses were confiscated as part of the investigation. She is expected to appear before the Kroonstad Magistrate’s Court soon, facing charges related to the possession of suspected stolen livestock.
