There was great happiness at Ntediseng High School recently when the school launched a Student Christian Organisation in K-section Botshabelo.
The launch of the organisation, which is open to all learners in Mangaung, is aimed at reaching young people through Christ.
Attending the launch were teachers, principals and learners from neighboring schools in K-section, including Seemahale Secondary School and others. The school used to be affected by gang wars, but these days there is peace on the school’s premises.
Explaining the purpose of the day, Thobeka Memani, Student Christian Organisation leader, said the organisation is aimed at providing leadership skills to learners.
“This is not only for learners of Ntediseng High School, but our doors are open to all learners in Botshabelo and the whole of Mangaung. We preach Christ to the learners because we want them to change their lives. Our purpose is to teach the word of God to our leaners so that we can have great future leaders.
“By working with these learners we discover their talents every day. A good example is our current president, Cyril Ramaposa, who was a leader of the Student Christian Organisation during his time as a student at University of Limpopo,” said Memani.
Ntebaleng Mosebo, principal at Ntediseng High School, told Voice that the launch was a joyful day at the school.
“Before today our school had gang wars during school hours and our learners were not accepted at other schools, but that is a thing of the past now. The situation has changed so much that we have become one of the best schools in Botshabelo,” Mosebo said.
Sabata Tsiloane, Chairperson of the Students Christian Organisation, said the school has become safe again.
“Since the introduction of the Student Christian Organisation things have changed. Because of the violence that happened here before, parents would not advise their children to attend this school. We are grateful to God because everything we see today, is by the grace of God.”
