Some FS construction companies are blacklisted

REFILWE MEKOA

Free State construction companies are part of the national list of blacklisted companies that was announced earlier this year.

The provincial Treasury’s Modibedi says they can’t confirm the number of blacklisted companies. He was speaking at the legislature meeting in Bloemfontein on Thursday.

He says the blacklisting process is done by the national department of treasury. Modibedi says it’s a continuous process where reports are released when necessary.

“National Treasury is continuously checking on contractors who are failing to complete their work. Construction contractors who are not meeting the requirements in terms of the tenders and the contract they signed. If they failed to comply with the contract that they signed with the particular department, then it becomes the responsibility of the national treasury to blacklist them,” she says.
