The Free State Department of Public Works and Infrastructure will announce to the public the official launch and opening of the Revolving Restaurant once a service provider has been appointed.
According to the department’s spokesperson Winkie Direko, tendering of the restaurant that is situated at the Fidel Castro Building in Bloemfontein has not been awarded to any service provider. She explained that they expect the restaurant to start generating revenue when a suitably qualified service provider is appointed to manage the restaurant.
She further highlighted that the refurbishment of the restaurant is part of the department’s bigger plans to enhance its ability to generate revenue to supplement the Free State Provincial Government fiscal conditions. Direko said they requested interested parties to submit Bid Proposals (RFPs) for the leasing of the Revolving restaurant for a period of five years and tender was closed on 10 April this year.
She said they were unable to comment on the cost of the agreement at this stage but the value of the renovation project was R5.6million.
