The majority of opposition parties at the Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality didn’t support Mayor Thabo Manyoni’s 2015/16 budget vote.
The Democratic Alliance, Congress of the People and the Freedom Front Plus didn’t support Manyoni’s budget vote at the council’s special meeting on Thursday. The APC is the only opposition party that supported the budget along with the ANC. Some of the issues raised by the opposition parties that opposed the budget vote were the municipality’s outstanding debts, water and electricity tariffs, traffic fines and the non-existence of the cable car at Naval Hill.
Manyoni, however, fired back by stating that Rome wasn’t built in a day and that he wasn’t God.
