Senior FS government officials granted bail


Five suspects appeared before the Welkom Magistrate’s Court today (21 September) where they faced charges of fraud, theft, contravention of the Public Finance Management Act, and the contravention of the Municipal Finance Management Act.

According to the spokesperson of the Hawks in the Free State, Christopher Singo, all suspects were granted bail during the court proceedings.

“The accused Humphrey Tsoarelo Malakoane (56), former HOD Sports and Culture Department and now current HOD of Education; Nontsikelelo Eunice Aaron (55), former MM Lejweleputswa District Municipality; Lebogang Aubrey Sebeela (47), former director SCM Sports and Culture Department; Monyane Matthews Sefantse (53), former MM Lejweleputswa District Municipality, currently MM of Nketoane Local Municipality; Errens Lodewikus Celliers (80), company director; and Sithiwe Thubane (47), company director, all appeared before the court today,” says Singo.

“All the accused were granted R20 000 bail each, except Aaron who was granted R3000 bail and Celliers who was granted R10 000 bail.”

The case has been postponed to 11 November 2022 for the tracing of another suspect.
