Sasolburg police hunt for reckless shooter

SABRINA DEAN – Sasolburg police are still hunting for the gunman who put a young woman in hospital after firing a random shot during an argument at the weekend.
Police spokesperson Sellwane Mapamela says 22-year-old Sizakele Mbele was shot in the back while standing outside a venue in Sasolburg in the early hours of Sunday Morning. She says Mbele was standing with friends when the drivers of two vehicles started fighting over a parking spot. A shot was fired and Mbele fell to the ground.
"The victim fell to the ground and told her friends that her back was painful and that is when they called the ambulance," she says.
Mapamela says police are still searching for the suspect and are investigating a case of attempted murder. "We are also looking for the driver of a black Volkswagen Golf with GP registration, who might assist the police with their investigation," she says.
Mapamela says Mbele was transferred to Pelonomi Hospital in Bloemfontein but could not provide further details on her condition.
Anyone with information that can assist police can contact investigating officer Detective Constable Rethabile Shabangu on 016 973 2192 or 082 875 9128 or their nearest police station
