Investigations into the alleged suicide of a 26-year old G4S inmate in Bloemfontein are still ongoing. Mangaung Maximum Correctional centre’s Grace Molatedi says inmate’s family has been notified and after he was found dead in his cell, Tuesday morning. The motive for the alleged suicide is still unknown.
The prisoner didn’t leave any letter.
He was spending a 15-year jail term for rape which he was sentenced in 2009.
*Rehabilitation and recreational programmes at the privately run Mangaung maximum correctional centre have been cut down after 48% of the correctional service members took sick leaves on Tuesday. The prison’s Grace Molatedi says the sick leaves were taken mostly by custodian officials or those who guard the prison cells. Molatedi says safety and security at the prison is still intact.
