Centlec has notified residents of a power interruption affecting multiple areas in Mangaung after a loss of supply at the Bayswater Distribution Centre (DC).
According to the power utility, the Incomer Transformer (TRF) at Bayswater DC tripped, resulting in electricity disruptions across several suburbs.
Areas affected include Bayswater, Noordhoek, parts of Waverley, Heliconhoogte, Navalpark, Hilton, Arboretum, Naval Hill (including the Microwave and FM Tower), Westdene, Dan Pienaar, Heuwelsig, Rayton, Pentagon Park, Hillsboro, Cold Chain, New Market, Vaalbank South, Vallombrosa, Roodewal, Midway and surrounding areas. Bram Fischer International Airport is also among the affected locations.
Centlec said technicians have been dispatched and are working to identify and resolve the issue as quickly as possible. Updates on the estimated time of restoration will be communicated once more information becomes available.
Residents are urged to treat all electrical installations as live and dangerous, as power may be restored without warning at any time during the shutdown period.
Centlec has apologised for the inconvenience and thanked customers for their patience and understanding.
