Residents in parts of Roodewal, Vaalbank Zuid, and Midway are advised to prepare for scheduled power interruptions taking place this week and next week as Centlec undertakes maintenance and network upgrades.
According to the Mangaung Metro Municipality, electricity supply will be interrupted on different days for the affected areas.
• Parts of Roodewal and Midway will experience outages on Tuesday, 7 October 2025, from 09:00 to 16:00, with an alternate date set for 14 October 2025.
• Parts of Roodewal and Vaalbank Zuid will be without electricity on Wednesday, 8 October 2025, from 09:00 to 16:00, with an alternate date scheduled for 15 October 2025.
Centlec has warned that electricity may be restored without prior notice during the shutdown period, urging residents to treat all electrical installations as live and dangerous. The power utility added that if electricity is not interrupted within one hour of the scheduled start time, the planned maintenance may have been postponed due to unforeseen circumstances.
The municipality apologized for the inconvenience, noting that the shutdown is necessary to facilitate essential construction and maintenance work on the local network.
