Only South African Business woman as finalist in prestigious UNCTAD Empretec Women in Business Awards.

Thandi Xaba – Renay van der Berg from Welkom in the Free State, has been nominated by Small Enterprise Development Agency (Seda) as a finalist in the prestigious Empretec UNCTAD Women in Business Awards.

Empretec is a United Nations programme reputable by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development and the ceremony is held in Switzerland annually. Van der Berg is the only South African Business woman chosen.

She is the owner of Procomm Public Relations Consultancy, and has over 30 years of business experience. Her business directly effects economic and personal development within the area of entrepreneurship.

“We work a lot in business development helping emerging companies directly into a fixed economic growth, 80% of our customers are start-up businesses. My job is to ensure they are sustainable. If they are sustainable, it leads to job creation, which is then an injection into the economy,” says Van Der Berg.

Her exceptional expertise in integrated business development has propelled from her roots nationally into the global arena of the bi-annual and prestigious UNCTAD Empretec Women in Business Awards.

Van der Berg was recently awarded “SA’s Most Influential Woman in Business & Government – SME Sector” by CEO Magazine in 2013. The announcement of winners will take place in Geneva, Switzerland on the 15th of October.
