OFM’s big cover up winter drive returns for a second year

OFM Sound of Your Life has announced the return of its annual blanket drive, The Big Cover Up, for a second successive year, aimed at supporting vulnerable communities during the cold winter across Central South Africa.

According to OFM Sales and Marketing manager Anchen Linvelt, the event will take place on Wednesday 3 June from 06:00 to 18:00, with listeners and businesses encouraged to tune in and contribute through cash donations. The campaign aims to raise R200 000 in cash donations to support NGOs in providing older persons and children under their care affected by the winter cold with food and blankets.

“The need for blankets and warm clothing increases every year. Together we can make a difference in the lives of children and the elderly who need it most. The Big Cover up is not just aimed to cover Central South Africa with blankets, but to also warm the hearts of those who will be receiving the donations,’’ said Linvelt.

OFM in collaboration with Round Table Southern Africa will identify local NGOs, and these organisations will ensure donated funds are used efficiently to purchase and distribute necessary winter aid to communities in need the most.

OFM CEO Nick Efstathiou added, “For the second year, we have the opportunity to raise funds for people in our communities who need support during the winter months. The people of Central South Africa have hearts of gold, and every contribution made towards this initiative is incredibly meaningful to all of us.”

The station said a minimum donation of R100 cash applies, and contributions can be made through ofmbigcoverup.co.za. They have also confirmed that no blankets or food donations will be collected.
