More white males needed in FS police force

The South African Police Service in the Free State said they are short-staffed and desperately need more white males to join the police force.

According to SAPS’s Michael Houben, the white, coloured and Indian races are in highly in demand. Houben said they also have a problem having few females that are working at police operational fields. Free State police have twenty clerical vacancies and 132 police entry level constable posts that need to be filled.

Houben explained that for clerical posts they encourage people living with disability and males to apply.

“I’m not sure if the white race group don’t know that we are actually looking for them at entry level. We are very much underrepresented when it comes to the white, coloured and Indian race groups. We have a very limited Indian population and all females we are really looking for them to apply but everybody can obviously apply,” he said.

Houben said the various police vacancies are for different police station within the province. The closing date of the vacancies is Monday 22 December 2014. Application forms can be found at various police stations and at the police provincial offices in Bloemfontein.
