The death toll on the notorious R30 road between Allanridge and Bothaville in the Free State has risen with seven this weekend.
OFM News reports, police spokesperson, Stephen Thakeng, says six people drowned Sunday night after the vehicle they were travelling in lost control and landed in water.
OFM News earlier reported the road claimed one life on Saturday evening and three other occupants sustained serious injuries. The accidents happened on the the spot where the road has been reconstructed and where a bus full of passengers earlier this month got stuck while trying to cross.
A case of culpable homicide has been registered in connection with the latest accident for further investigation. Motorists are warned to reduce speed when approaching the R30.
