Dipolelo Hou, who has been crowned Miss Plus World Ambassador 2018/19 in Atlanta in the United States of America in July this year, has recently launched a movement called #PurposeDrivenQueens. In partnership with the Chief Leeuw Foundation, Hou helps other beauty queens to fulfil their purpose by serving their communities.
She has also has been chosen as the Dear Bella Ambassador 2018/19. Dear Bella is a sanitary pads brand owned by Matefo Morakeng, which is a vehicle for empowering girls by providing access to affordable and quality sanitary pads.
One of Hou’s responsibilities as an ambassador is to raise enough money every month for pads for 50 girls from disadvantaged communities through a monthly buy-and-donate initiative. She also has to identify their needs, run a mentorship programme through Girl Child Circle Chat and adopt a community. She has started with the first intake of girls and will donate the first pads to the in Dinaweng, Mangaung this coming weekend.
“The face of pageantry is taking a tremendous shift. I believe as queens we should talk the talk and walk the walk. Our passion for pageantry should drive us to the purpose that God has ordained for us. We give glory Him,” said Hou. – Lebakeng Nkabi
