Men from all walks of life gathered together under one roof, to educate, seek advice and plan a way towards winning the fight against Woman and Children abuse.
The Imbizo Ya Madoda was held on Saturday 05 December 2015 at Miracle Worship Centre in JB Mafora in Bloemfontein, according to the Community Policing Officer Constable Ezekiel Radebe the project aimed at changing the mind set of men about woman and children.
He explained by educating and making the men aware of the impact of their actions on woman and children we can save a lot of families and reduce the numbers of woman and children who are being abused whilst promoting healthier and safe communities.
The Kagisanong Police working together with the Community Policing Forum and the Kagisanong Men’s Forum, SAPS Provincial Crime and Social Crime Prevention did project as part of raising awareness during the 16 Days of Activism against woman and children.
In attendance of the dialogue were local business and sports men, Churches, the Department of Police Roads and Transport, Correctional Service, Education, Befrienders South Africa and others including the community from surroundings areas.
Each stakeholder did a presentation about their department and how they could bring their part in the fight against woman and children abuse.
Constable Radebe said the Constitution recognized gender equality as the cornerstone of South Africa’s democracy and the legislation such as Domestic Violence Act, has been lauded for enforcing the rights of women.
But more needs to be done, thus we have to host such events.
The Imbizo Ya Madoda was day two of the planned events by the Kagisanong SAPS to mark the 16 Days of Activism against woman and children and stop the abuse of woman and children, on Thursday the team had visited the Kagisanong Old Age Club to empower them with knowledge.
