The Department of Education in the Free State completed the marking of matric examination papers on Monday.
According to spokesperson Howard Ndaba says the marking commenced on 3 December and he expresses his gratitude to the dedication and hard work of the 2 500 markers and 500 examination assistants. He says the marking process went very well and it was further confirmed by Umalusi, the Council for Quality Assurance in General and Further Education and Training and the Department of Basic Education.
According to Ndaba, the capturing of marks will be finalised this Friday and thereafter the results will be ready for standardisation by Umalusi and the department. He says they are proud to have delivered credible exams and chief markers are currently finalising control of scripts.
“The chief markers are also finalising the process of moderation. We are really proud of the marking team, they have shown good character and integrity. Throughout the marking process, there were no wrongdoing. We are inviting the media for the release of the results on which will be held on 6 January at the Central University of Technology,” he says.
Ndaba explains that during the announcement of the results, detailed reports and a breakdown of the 2015 grade 12 performance will be outlined. About 100 top learners will be awarded bursaries as a reward for excellent performance.
