Mangaung servers expected to be running by end of today

After battling to restore its main server for almost two weeks,  the Mangaung Metro Municipality is optimistic that everything will be back to normal by end of business today. The municipality has been unable to process payments for more than a week due to server problems.

Mangaung Metro spokesperson, Qondile Khedama, said in a statement that significant progress has been made regarding the restoration of the server.

“Teams are on site and they promised to give us a feedback as soon as they start the system. Citizens of the Mangaung Metro and other stakeholders will get a communique once the system is up running.

“We have communicated internally with our workers that our data is already with banks and that they will definitely be paid. This is after the Executive Mayor, Cllr Olly Mlameli, had reinforced payment of all critical creditors which also includes workers.”

Khedama added that they are waiting for feedback from their technical team, and that once the system is up and running they will inform residents.

“This had been a trying moment for the city. Obviously most of our stakeholders, employees and the general populace have been in panic mode. Hence the Executive Mayor would like to once again apologise for the inconvenience that has been caused in the process,” he added.
