Mangaung police ready for Macufe influx

Thousands of people are expected to flock to Bloemfontein this week for Macufe. As part of ensuring that Bloemfontein residents and visitors alike enjoy a safe and secure environment during the festival, Police in the Parkweg cluster has started with intensive law enforcement operations. Police spokesperson, Captain Chaka Marope, says they will be working with other law enforcement agencies to maintain law and order.

“We will be working together with other law enforcement agencies, including various police units, Mangaung Metro Municipality Security, and Mangaung Traffic Department, in particular, to maintain law and order during the Macufe activities. We will be focusing on drinking in public, incidents of public indecency, theft out of motor vehicles and street robberies,”adds Marope.

Police visibility will be high during this week, with patrols taking place in high-density areas such as business areas, taxi ranks, and alcohol outlets, where large numbers of people will be gathered.
