A man (43) is set to appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday 5 November on charges of murdering his 49-year-old ex-girlfriend.
Police were contacted regarding the incident which took place at around 20:00 on 19 October in Phase 3, Bloemspruit. “They [police] immediately rushed to the scene,” according to police spokesperson, Sergeant Sinah Mpakane.
Upon arrival, police were met by the deceased father. Jeanette Mofokeng’s father told police that he discovered her body with multiple stab wounds, with her boyfriend nowhere to be found. Paramedics declared Mofokeng dead at the scene.
“Police found a broken knife lying next to the deceased,” stated Mpakane, adding: “Intelligence-driven information led to the arrest of the suspect in the Bloemspruit area.”
