Man becomes a millionaire at Windmill Casino

Good luck is always welcomed, but when you have been recently retrenched from your job, a visit from Lady Luck is an even greater pleasure.

That’s exactly what happened to Capetonian Ken Hendricks when he and his partner decided to overnight in Bloemfontein on their way back home after spending a week at Sun City.

He phoned the Windmill Lodge at the Windmill Casino to make an overnight accommodation booking and was told that unfortunately they were full. So when he arrived in Bloemfontein he thought he’d go to the Windmill Lodge just in case a room had become available, and his luck was in, they were able to book a room there for the night.

Ken and his partner so enjoyed their evening at the Windmill Casino that they decided to stay another night. On Sunday afternoon, Ken decided to play the slots, and as he does when he visits Cape Town’s GrandWest Casino, he set himself a money limit to play the slots either until his luck ran out or until he had won more than his limit.

That’s what happened on Sunday, until about 7pm when Ken decided to have a quick go at the Mega Jackpot. Images lined up on the screen and then the sound of music signalled that a jackpot had been won, a big one at that, one of the biggest paid out at the Windmill.

Ken Hendricks, by winning over R1,6-million, had gone from being retrenched, to doing casual work, to becoming a millionaire. He said that he would be sensible with the money, given his current circumstances.

So next time you want some fun, pop in at the Windmill Casino for a little flutter, you just never know your luck.
