Preparations for the 2022 edition of the Mangaung African Cultural Festival (Macufe) are ongoing as the Macufe Steering Committee has been set up to work on the successful execution of the festival.
Given the large scale of Macufe, an events management entity is required to ensure the successful coordination of the festival. A tender invitation has been issued for the contracting of that events management company.
The service provider is anticipated to be appointed in line with the legislated requirements for the bid process in August 2022. “We will again like to assure the patrons and stakeholders of Macufe that everything will be done for the successful delivery of this festival. Indeed, the environment has changed following the two years’ interruption by the Covid-19 pandemic which has disrupted our momentum with preparations. The pandemic has also affected the economy and thus resulted in the need for reprioritisation. The preparations are nevertheless solidly underway,” observed the Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Sport, Arts, Culture, and Recreation, Limakatso Mahasa.
The festival is on course for the set dates of 2 to 9 October 2022, offering the Main Music Festival, Divas Concert, Gospel Show, Comedy, Hip Hop Music Festival, Theatre, Arts and Craft Market, Boxing, Soccer and so on.
The developmental programme of the festival will also feature, and auditions will be staged at district level to select local artists who will form part of the developmental programme during Macufe. For further details please visit www.fssacr.gov.za
