The book is an autobiography of Sekhu’s life. It takes us on a journey, from an incident as an eleven-month-old baby which left her without one arm and with only one finger on her remaining arm, to how it changed her life forever and how she, because of it, is changing the lives of others today.
In her book, she tells a chilling tale that reveals the cruelty of children in her childhood, the high-value society places on appearances and how she had to grow up in that environment and how it would change her life and her direction forever. The book itself provides a host of stories that reminds one that there are few things as courageous and tenacious as the human spirit. It also serves as a heart-warming reminder that despite our perception of them, there is more to a disabled person than what we may see, more than what meets our pitiful stares and awkward silences. They rather are living memorials, a testament to the fact that many of us are not living up to our full potential as they do much more with much less than what we have.
It’s also about a girl who took her pain and turned it into power. With her healing, she is now giving those with scars(perhaps not so visible to the human eye as hers are) hope that there is healing, and after the healing, there is great potential for you to be anything you want to be.
