Inibos parkrun to continue despite coffee shop closure

Inibos parkrun in Bloemfontein will continue operating as usual following the closure of the Inibos coffee shop.

Organiser Diane Vosloo reassured participants that the weekly 5km event is not coming to an end, but will continue taking place.

“Inibos parkrun will carry on as usual. Should anything change, we would always let the community know well in advance,” said Vosloo.

She said that the parkrun remains an important space for both runners and walkers in Bloemfontein.

“It’s a safe place for people to come and do a 5km run or walk without being concerned about traffic or any other concerns they may have.” She added that the event also creates an opportunity for families and friends to spend time together.

“It’s time when family and friends get together on Saturday morning for exercise and even a catch-up on the news of the week,” said Vosloo.

She said the parkrun community spirit will remain unchanged. “The caring and vibe we as Inibos parkrun have brought since 2022 will continue. For now it’s just the coffee shop closing.”

Vosloo explained that there is no transition as Inibos coffe shop and parkrun are two separate organisations. “With Inibos parkrun its business as usual,” she said.

She also confirmed that the property owner has already found a buyer for the coffee shop.
