FS takes third place in case study competition in national agricultural awards

The Free State Department of Agriculture and Rural Development attended the 58th South African Society for Agricultural Extension conference and award ceremony where the province was represented by local Extension officers who won the third position under the case study competition.

The conference hosted at the Emperors Palace in Johannesburg created an opportunity for young Extensionists to go head-to-head to solve agricultural problems from 29 June to 4 July.

According to the department, the challenge aims to ignite innovation, and test analytical prowess while encouraging team building of the next generation leaders.

Awards were handed over by the outgoing SASAE president, Thulani Masondo, to the delegates whose work was exceptional during the duration of the conference. Nelisiwe Mnisi, Ntlafatso Ntsimanyane, Charles Makhetha and Katlego Thetele came in third place for their case study presentation, titled “Transforming Agricultural Extension for Climate Resilient Rural Development in Rural South Africa in the Makhuduthamanga Municipality, Limpopo”.

Categories ranged from the contributions in the Extension sphere, best scientific presentations, best success story and the best case study presentation.
