Speaker of the Free State Legislature said she followed the rightful constitutional procedure when she appointed the new provincial Public Service Commissioner.
Ouma Tsopo still emphasises that she appointed Henk Boshoff as the new Public Service Commissioner because he isn’t an office bearer. This after the Democratic Alliance had sent a letter to Tsopo last month requesting her to reconvene the committee that appointed Boshoff as he is a vocal ANC member that represents structures such as the IEC’s Provincial Party Liaison Committee.
Tsopo said she responded twice to the DA after they had not been happy with her response. Tsopo stressed that Boshoff is a Multi-Party Liaison Committee member and she followed the right constitutional procedure.
“The reference I must also use as speaker is the constitution of a political party. According to the constitution of the ANC, executive members are members who are serving at branch, region, province and national level,” Tsopo added.
