FS serial rapist arrested

A serial rapist wanted for cases dating back from 2009 up to 2017 has recently been arrested after the Selosesha Tactical Response Team, together with the Provincial Crime Intelligence Unit and the provincial Serial Electronic Cyber came together.

After searching various addresses in Thaba Nchu, the teams had no luck but on their way to their last location, the suspect was spotted walking in the street. The suspect saw the marked vehicle driving towards him and made a run for it. Members of the South African Police Services (SAPS) made a chase and arrested the suspect.

Police spokesperson Brigadier Motantsi Makhele said when members of the police took the suspect to his residence, they made another discovery. Two flat screen TVs, two amplifiers, SANDF uniform, 40 cell phones, one geyser tank, one fan, one microwave, a handbag full of jewellery and one laptop were discovered.

“The suspect (aged 47) will appear in the Thaba Nchu Magistrate’s Court on 7 charges of rape and possession of suspected stolen goods.  More charges are expected to be added, as there is a possibility of linking him with other cases even outside Free State province,” said Makhele.

Provincial Commissioner, Lt-Gen Baile Motswenyane commended the “splendid job” done by the team members and said that it is through this collective effort that one criminal responsible for many cases affecting women and children will be removed from the streets.
