The 18-year-old learner who happens to be the oldest out of four boys who allegedly sexual assaulted a 15-year-old female learner during break time, is still in custody and will apply for bail tomorrow, 24 August.
According to Colonel Thandi Mbambo, the other three boys are between the age of 14 and 15, and were released into their parents’ custody. It is alleged that on 11 August the female learner from Tlotlanang Combined School in Thaba Nchu, Free State went to the classroom to get her snacks and noticed there were five boys in the classroom.
“One of the boys allegedly closed the door and four of them allegedly started touching the victim inappropriately. The fifth boy allegedly pushed them away and the victim managed to run away,” said Mbambo.
The case of sexual assault was opened by the victim’s father after she had informed him about the matter.
Howard Ndaba, Free State Education spokesperson, has not yet responded to Bloemfontein Courant’s enquiry.
