Gauteng police arrested a 54-year-old man who allegedly stole cables in the Free State, in areas including Bethlehem, Paul Roux, and Arlington.
The police found the 54-year-old man with a large quantity of cables whilst patrolling. The police were conducting operations on 5 May 2024. It was then that a suspicious vehicle was driving slowly on the R707, which is under construction.
According to Warrant Officer Mmako Mophiring, upon seeing the police’s blue lights trying to stop him, the driver accelerated until he joined the R57 and finally stopped at a nearby local filling station.
“The suspect was arrested and is expected to appear in the Reitz Magistrate’s Court on 6 May 2024, facing a charge of possession of suspected stolen property,” Mophiring concluded.
