The Forensic Investigation Unit of National Treasury is still busy with a forensic investigation into the finances of the Performing Arts Council of the Free State (Pacofs).
This is according to Arts and Culture Minister Nathi Mthethwa in an answer to a written question in parliament.
He says his department initially conducted an Ad hoc Audit investigation based on the findings of the Auditor-General on the 2013/14 and 2014/15 financial years.
Mthethwa says the investigation started in February 2016 and completed three months later in May 2016.
He said the report then recommended a forensic investigation. Mthethwa says the scope of the latest investigation now reaches over several financial years.
He was answering a question by DA MP Allen Grootboom about the high levels of fruitless and wasteful expenditure at Pacofs.
