Expensive brandy and whiskey stolen at store in Fichardtpark

In another armed robbery hitting Bloemfontein a group of armed men with balaclavas stole expensive liquor during a robbery early this morning at a store in a shopping complex in Fichardtpark.

Police spokesperson, Chaka Marope, says a security guard patrolling the building was confronted by an armed man just before 01:00.

The guard was forced to walk towards a liquor store in the building where three other robbers were busy breaking the glass entrance door with two large stones and a hammer. Marope says the robbers forced the guard into the store.

The robbers packed the liquor into buckets and boxes. They tied the guard up and fled the scene. Marope says the guard did not see in what type of vehicle was used.

According to him the estimated cost of the stolen liquor, comprising brandy and whiskey is about R40 000. Police are still searching for the robbers. The security guard did not susstain serious injuries.   – Christal-Lize Muller
