The dam levels in Free State continue to decline and the Department of Water and Sanitation would like to urge water users to save this precious resource sparingly.
According to the dam levels report released by the Department on Monday, 18 September 2017, Free State levels declined from 77, 3% last week to 76, 4% this week.
The Bloemfontein Supply System that supplies water to dams in Mangaung is taking a strain as it is sitting at 38, 1% this week compared to 39, 2% last week.
Rustfontein Dam is sitting at 23.75% as compared to last week 32.4%. The largest dam in South Africa Gariep Dam is at 64.7% as compared to last week 66.0%. Vanderkloof Dam is at 80.1% as compared to 80.6% last week.
Erfenis Dam is at 64.1% this week compared to 65.6% last week. Krugersdrift Dam is at 41.1% this week compared to 41.2% last week. Sterkfontein Dam is at 92.7% compared to 92.6 last week. Bloemhof Dam is at 94.5% as compared to 95.6% last week same time.
Community members and the agricultural sector should continue to adhere to water restrictions imposed by their respective municipalities. Adherence to water restrictions by domestics and industries is impacting positively by relieving strain on water resources and demand management during this trying time.
