“They have come to our province to thank the people of the Free State who have participated in the campaigns for the demand of their release while they were still in prison. It is an honour for our province and for the residents and it is also a continuation of a strategic relationship between Cuba and South Africa, which started many years ago,” he said.
Meeko said provincial Deputy President of the ANC Thabo Manyoni will deliver the memorial lecture of Nelson Mandela. He explained that Cuba was one of the countries that robustly supported Africa’s anti-colonial struggle and the fight to overthrow apartheid.
