Cop shooter’s bail application postponed

DUANE PETRUS

The bail application of the man who allegedly shot and wounded a policeman two nights ago has been postponed in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.

Constable Mathe Sefutsa was shot in both legs, allegedly by Marius Terblanche, while responding to a domestic violence complaint in Pellissier.

The state requested that the application be remanded until the second of July because the investigating officer had not yet completed his investigation.

The state initially declared that it would not oppose the bail application, but changed this decision because Terblanche’s affidavit differs from his statement given to the police.

Terblanche’s lawyer, Nico Dreyer, argued that his client is diabetic and cannot eat the food provided to him in prison.
