Uyleta Nel-Marais, who lives in Bloemfontein, has been announced as one of the top 7 finalist in the Mrs Universe South Africa competition on 23 October in Sandton, Johannesburg.
“It gives me a sense of accomplishment. I’ve been working really hard during my journey and picking the fruits of your hard work is really rewarding,” said Nel-Marais.
Bloemfontein Courant previously reported that Nel-Marais is in the running to be crowned as the winner of Mrs Universe SA 2022, which will take place on 26 February 2022 in Johannesburg.
Nel-Marais said she wants to make sure that her initiative for the competition, One Nation: Our Women and Children, which aims at assisting those who have been affected by gender-based violence, grow as big as possible. “I do not want it to be a one-time thing,” she said.
When asked what her main focus will be for preparing for the finals, Nel-Marais said she wants to stay true to herself and to just enjoy the journey. “It’s an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and I am in it to give it my all,” she concluded.
According to Nel-Marais, voting has now opended for the finals and to vote, SMS Uyleta Nel-Marais to 35223. “It costs R3 per SMS and voting is open until February 2022.”
