Alleged farm attackers from Brandfort back in court on Monday

The formal bail application of three alleged farm attackers from Brandfort could not proceed in the local Magistrate’s Court today as one of the accused fell critically ill during the proceedings.

This, according to Hawks spokesperson, S’fiso Nyakane. He says the matter has been postponed until Monday.

Teboho Francis, Tefo Tlhabo, and Tsietsi Rampa face charges of attempted murder and attempted robbery.

This comes after Charl Gutter was allegedly approached and attacked on his farm by the four suspects on August 29. A struggle ensued and one of the suspects allegedly fired shots at Gutter. According to him he returned fire and wounded one of the men in the back. The injured attacker, Saniboy Segalo, later died in an ambulance on the way to hospital.

Nyakane says they have since recovered a firearm that was used by the alleged attackers.

The suspects remain in custody.
