The body of a pilot flying a crop-spraying aeroplane was found this morning after police were informed that his plane went missing whilst spraying crops between Bultfontein and Hoopstad last night.
According to a statement by police, they were informed about the incident at about 21:00 and a search was immediately launched. Local farmers used drones to try and locate the plane, but to no avail.
The police helicopter was activated and could only fly out around 05:00 this morning. Within 10 minutes of flying around the area, the plane wreckage was spotted in the field.
An inquest has been registered for further investigation.
